On October 19, 2005, the opening ceremony of Asia Theatre Education Centre (ATEC) was held in the Central Academy of Drama (CAD). Apart from the host school, guests from 6 other member schools and friends from other circles gathered here together. The signing ceremony started at 10 am and the representatives of all the seven member schools signed on the agreement, which was the highlight of the ceremony. ATEC’s member schools include the Central Academy of Drama (China), Theatre Department of Nihon University College of Arts (Japan), Chung-Ang University Department of Theatre (Korea), National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts (China), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore), Shanghai Theatre Academy (China) and the Hongkong Academy for Performing Arts (China)

Then, the representatives gathered in front of the gate of CAD, joined in the unveiling ceremony for the plaque of ATEC, and expressed their determination of jointly contributing to the development and prosperity of Asian Theatre Arts.
