The 2nd World TheatreEducation Convention & the 4th Asia Theatre Schools Festival was held in May 19-22, 2016 in Ulaanbaatar of Mongolia.

The Convention was coorganized by Ministry of Education, Culture and Science of Mongolia (MECS), Asia Theatre Education Centre (ATEC) and the Mongolia State University of Arts and Culture (MSUAC). The convention was held in MSUAC. Besides, the convention had won great support from State Bank of the Mongolian People's Republic, National Academic Drama Theatre of Mongolia, Office of International Theatre Institute (ITI) in Mongolia, and several other Mongolian organizations and companies in the broadcast and publication fields.

On the afternoon of May 19, the opening ceremony of the 2nd World Theatre Education Convention & 4th Asia Theatre Schools Festival was held in the National Academic Drama Theatre of Mongolia. Mr. Gantomor (Minister of MECS), Mr. Xu Xiang (Director General of ATEC), Mr. Tobias Biancone (Director General of ITI), and Ms Sonintogos (President of MSUAC) attended the ceremony and made a speech. After the ceremony, teachers and students of MSUAC presented a wonderful welcoming performance for all of the guests.



On May 20th, the 2nd World TheatreEducation Convention was held in the Student Theatre of MSUAC under the theme of "Drama Sociality: Classical Dramas in Modern Style".

A total of 17 thesis abstracts from 9 schools were submitted to the Convention, and authors of 8 papers shared their drama concepts on the convention.

On May 20th-21st, 8 drama works from member schools were performed, including:

Agamemnon (ChungWoon University, Korea),

Intrigue and love (Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture, Mongolia).

Macbeth in Nanyang Spirit (Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore),

Medea (SeoKyeong University, Korea),

Mulan (The Central Academy of Drama, China),

My Father's House (College of Fine Arts, University of New Mexico, USA),

Sotoba Komachi & The Damask Drum (Toho Gakuen College of Drama and Music, Japan),

The Son of Jocasta (Chung-Ang University, Korea).


122 people from 13 member schools and 3 nonmember schools attended the activity, including leaders, professors and students of these schools, as well as guests, researchers and experts from ITI, Art Academy Alliance of Europe and three european universities. The attendees came from 11 schools of 5 countries. 6 master courses and 2 lectures were given by the International professors and expert teams.

The panel of judges of the 4th Asia Theatre Schools Festival of ATEC composed of 9 international experts. Finally 1 Best Drama, 2 Excellent Dramas and 10 Best Performers were selected. The drama Mulan by the Central Academy of Drama won the "Excellent Drama Award", and Mou Jia and Eksan Tayier, two students from the Central Academy of Drama, won the Best Performer Award.
