Since its establishment in 1935, Tama Art University has been continuously carrying out various art practices and educational researches, striving to explore a right path for art education. 10 disciplines are set in the University, covering both the traditional and advanced art fields. There are also specialized art studios and galleries.
It is the strength of a comprehensive art institution like Tama Art University to gather all fields of arts in one place and let them interact with one another. We now have 4700 students respectively of 2 subjects in Kaminoge Campus, and 8 subjects in Hachioji Campus, all taught in small groups. Our courses cover all students, with specialized courses set vertically for all grades, and general courses open horizontally to students of all subjects.
For general courses, there are lecture halls, conference halls, media centres, library, galleries, and other public facilities for enriching the students’ humanity and cultivating their aesthetics. We also keep exploring theories to boost our students’ imagination. What’s more, the graduate school conducts in-depth research on various specialized fields, with specific interest in the reflection of all aspects of human nature in art.
