Co-Performance by Chinese, Japanese and Korean Teachers and Students

From Nov. 9 to 11, 2007, "Map Mania: Door" was staged at Chung-Ang University in Seoul. The play, featuring novel and concise content and unique technique of expression, was co-created by three ATEC member schools, namely Chung-Ang University (Korea), the Central Academy of Drama (China), and Nihon University College of Arts (Japan). The production team comprised Choi Jeung-Il (coordinator), Lee Hye-Jeong (producer), and Kim Kwang- Sub (lighting designer) from Chung-Ang University; Toda Munehiro (producer), Katou Tokuko (scriptwriter and director) from Theatre Department of Nihon University College of Arts; and Bian Wentong (stage designer) from the Central Academy of Drama. Most performers were from Chung-Ang University, with 2 from China and 2 from Japan.

This exchange activity is a creative practice, a trail-blading attempt to integrate different performance characteristics and creation concepts on the same stage. This form of multi-element, multi-lingual and diversified cooperation in creative performances will surely become an effective means of theatre art exchange and cooperation among various Asian art schools in the future.
