ATEC 6th International Forum Kicked Off


On the afternoon of May 18, 2011, ATEC 6th International Forum was kicked off at the Experimental Theatre of the Central Academy of Drama. Participants from include friends from the press as well as teachers and students from the Central Academy of Drama (China), Nihon University (Japan), Chung-Ang University (Korea), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore), National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts (China), Shanghai Theatre Academy of Drama (China), the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (China), National School of Drama (India), National Institute of Dramatic Art (Australia), Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts (Uzbekistan), Chungwoon University (Korea), Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema (Vietnam), and Toho Gakuen College of Drama and Music (Japan). Vice Director-General of ATEC, Prof. Liu Libin hosted the Opening Ceremony.



The ceremony started with the exhibition of the eyes-catching works from “Figurative Design Award of Beijing”. Then, a short video of ATEC was played to review the key achievements by the Centre since its commencement.


   


Mr. Yang Guiren (Secretary-General of Department of Physical Health and Arts Education, Ministry of Education of PRC) expressed his approval of ATEC’s achievements in the past 6 years, and stressed the urgency of furthering the research of theatre education. The vice chairman of the Research Institute of Chinese Modern Drama believed the theme of the forum is practical and meaningful. Chairholder Dumitriu of UNESCO Chair-ITI reiterated the wish of his organization to promote its cooperation with Asian entities with tailored targets. ATEC Director-General, Prof. Xu Xiang extended warm welcome to all the participants and mentioned that both educators and students should prepare themselves for a globalized world. He proposed that the Centre served, and would continue to serve, as a platform for cross-cultural exchanges, and that the Centre would embrace a brighter future. The forum was then declared open by Prof. Liu Libin.
