The 5th Asian Theatre Schools Festival, themed as “Samuel Beckett: The Presence of the Actor on an Empty Stage” was held from May 16 to 20 at Arts Centre of Chung-Ang University. 8 schools brought their shows on stage, including Molly (Chung-Ang University, South Korea), Black Vast (The Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, China), Bearing Beckett in Bandar (Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Brunei), Desire (Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema, Vietnam), 60 Minutes of Waiting for Godot (TOHO Gakuen College of Drama and Music, Japan), Beckett’s Allegory (Chungwoon University, South Korea), Blood Wedding (Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture, Mongolia), and Waiting for Godot (The Central Academy of Drama, China).
On May 20, at the closing ceremony, winners of the “Best Play” award (one), the “Excellent Play” awards (two), and the “Best Stage Performance” awards (ten) were revealed and awarded with medals and certificates.
