Director’s Notes

I see Kafka as psychologically complexed characters

The ups and downs of Kafka's life since his childhood to his youth inspired me to know him more. But the more I read about him the more I felt the necessity of acquiring information about him.

My interest was growing more in his own life history than his literary works.

In this context, "Letter to Father”, memoirs of Kafka, letters to Felicia and to Milena and after effects of world war along with his contemporary literature and his views on theatre, art, cinema, and youth lead me to do this production. This production is not only portrays bit of Kafka's life reflecting his views.

Letter to father is definitely is launch pad and in due course analysis his reaction and views on different subjects.

I am very thankful to Mr. Bansi Kaul, Asif Ali Haider Khan and my team to have been with me all through the process.

Synopsis

Play is set in a Sanatorium where Kafka is admitted for his treatment for T. B. and his girlfriend Felicia has visited to meet him. The Ward boy enters into Kafka's room to inform him about Felicia who is waiting to see Kafka.

But Kafka is in the Bathroom and from here on the play begins its journey into past, into his relationships with mother, Dora, Felicia, Ottla and his father.

Through these relations we come to know of his life as well as his views.

In the end we realize that Kafka is no more and all these incidents were happening in his mind in the last moments to his life.
