Outstanding German playwright Schiller's play "Intrigue and Love" was revived by post-modern genre and performed in 9 acts within one hour, by the fourth-year students of the School of Theatre Arts at the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture. Conception of the revived version of the play is to expose the love, as human dignity, is disturbed by both the greed and power, which are begun to be considered the highest, and by the undervalued personality, charity and compassion, in present-day society.
In order to achieve the above purpose, we used a certain number of methods such as a technique of body language and a technique of bio-mechanics.
As a conclusion, we would say that love is a preference of beloved person's desire and thought instead of own ones. This means that preference will be given to living in beloved one's life way.
Synopsis
The play is a story about love of a high ranking noble and a middle-class girl. The play presents how a middle-class music instructor Miller and his daughter Luise lost their lives due to the evil intrigue and hypocrisy by officials and authorities in their palace. This play is duly considered to be the German classical play.
The play begins with love affairs between Ferdinand, son of the President and an army major, who began to come to a music instructor Miller's house to have music classes, and Luise, whose father is Ferdinand's music instructor. Having heard that his son is falling in love with Luise from his secretary Wurm, the president planned to match him with Lady Milford, the duke's mistress, and announced about their engagement to the public having talked with Hofmarschall maid to the nobleman.
This was a secret intrigue by a group of people who wanted to be remained keeping their positions, ranks and prestige. Wurm persuaded Luise to give an evidence that shows her personal intimate relations with Hofmarschall to free her father who is under the severe circumstance in a prison.
Having seen Luise's evidence about intimate relations with Hofmarschall, Ferdinando became jealous and made Luise have a kind of poison which leads to death. Finally, life of the middle class girl was lost as a victim of the all terrible deeds.
This play is a tragedy which depicts the turpitude, confusion and intrigues in the society and the drama is written to disclose the victim - lost life of a young girl, committed by the high ranking authority who took power. Unfortunately, such actions have been still happening in today's society.
